Shakespeare House
Berlitz Manchester’s residential partner is Shakespeare House. We choose to work with Shakespeare House as it is the only accommodation that allows short-term stays on any given time of the year.
Overview
Shakespeare House is managed by Regenesis, who is a charity and community centre based in South Manchester. As well as providing grass roots’ community servies, they deliver innovative community regeneration.
All rooms are comfortably furnished and are fully equipped with everything you need. The house has its own library where the students can use for study. The friendly and relaxed atmosphere of the house makes it the perfect place for groups or single residents to stay during their time in Manchester.
Rooms:
Every bedroom is furnished with a fully fitted wardrobe for your clothes and belongings, a desk area complete with bookshelves, with electrical sockets for all your essential appliances. Each room has an individually controlled heating system (you decide how hot or cold you want your environment to be!
As extras, if you do not want to study in your own room, you can use a private telephone and broadband Internet connection can quickly and easily be set up in your room. So there’s definitely no excuse for not contacting home!
Kitchen:
You are welcome to use the kitchen and all that is in it. Just wash up after use. The kitchen comes with a fully equipped modern kitchen and relaxing lounge to socialize with other students.
Security:
Shakespeare House takes student safety extremely seriously. Caretakers are present 24 hours a day, 7 days a week throughout the year, ensuring that there is always a representative available on-site to lend assistance if required.
Each resident has his/her own key so you don’t have to worry about who opens up the door if you are going home after a night out
Management:
Shakespeare House is managed by Regenesis Squared. It has a dedicated management office that is open all week long. It is from here that residents can collect post, use the computer and the photocopying machine. The centre is open every day and is always available to provide a first-class responsive service.
Transportation:
The house is located just outside the city centre and is within a 15 – 20 minute bus ride to the Berlitz Centre. The bus stop is only a 5-minute walk from the house, and buses to the city centre arrive every 10 minutes.
The house is also located near to Manchester Airport. Average transfer time from Manchester Airport is just 25 minutes.
Laundry:
There is a launderette in the house for students to use. You just have to provide your own washing powder and fabric conditioner.
Other Facilities:
Use of the bedsheets and pillows are free. You have to provide for your own bath towels and toiletries.
Victoria Hall ( Summer )
Berlitz Manchester’s residential partner is Victoria Halls. We chose to work alongside Victoria Halls due to its fantastic city centre location and modern accommodation.
Transportation:
The halls are located in the city centre so there is no need to get a bus to the school. However if you wanted to travel to other cities then Oxford Road train station is just a five minute walk away and there are bus stops located nearby.
Oxford Road Station – London Euston = 2hrs 25mins
The halls are also located near to Manchester Airport. Average transfer time from Manchester Airport is just 20 minutes.
Kitchen:
Each flat comes with a fully equipped modern kitchen and relaxing lounge to socialize with other students. In the lounge there is a television with Sky channels.
The rooms:
All rooms have a private bathroom but share the kitchen and the lounge with the other rooms in the flat.
Each room comes with the option of having a broadband connection and a private telephone.
There is a telephone in the hallway of each flat.
In a typical flat there are 4 rooms, one kitchen and one lounge.
Laundry:
There is a launderette on campus for students to use.
John Lester Court
John Lester Court is located in Salford Student Village, near the university campus. It is about 10 minutes walk from Salford Crescent train station. Salford city is very close to Manchester where you will find a wide range of leisure, shopping and tourist possibilities. The Trafford Centre is a large shopping complex which is only a short bus ride away. It houses over 230 shops, a cinema, bowling, Laser Quest and Aerial Extreme, a high ropes adventure course. The Chill Factor, the UK’s largest indoor ski slopes, is also located close to the Trafford Centre. The residence is near to Salford City Shopping Centre, which has grocery stores and shops.
Accommodation
John Lester Court provides a range of two, three and four bedroom flats. The building has been recently refurbished.
Flat facilities:
All flats include microwave, electric oven, hob, grill, breakfast bar and stools, fridge freezer, lockable storage cupboards, dustpan, brush, mop and bucket.
There is a kitchen pack available for £15 and includes:

- Teatowel
Bedroom facilities
The room has a single bed, a new mattress protector, a desk, a study chair, free broadband access, a wardrobe and a bookshelf.
There is a new bedding and towel pack available for £30. The packet includes duvet, duvet cover, base sheet, pillow, pillow case and towels.
Communal facilities:
John Lester court has new facilities for socialising and relaxing. The communal facilities include a TV/games room were you can play Wii and X-Box, a pool table, communal kitchen, vending machines, a library and an onsite gym. John Lester Court has a fully furnished launderette with TV, lounge areas and washers (£2 per wash) and dryers (£1 per dry).
The gym is free for residents and is fully equipped with cardiovascular and weight equipment.
Cleaning:
Students are responsible for laundering of bedding and cleaning their own room. Communal areas and bathrooms will be cleaned once a week.
Security:
Staff is onsite 24 hours a day, with security patrols at night. There is also a 24-hour emergency helpline for urgent concerns.
